2/12/06 Basketball Preview - Pistons-Heat Rivalry Extended

Author: David Pincus

Pistons @ Heat: Miami has struggled mightily against the best teams in the League. They have lost to the Nets, Pacers, Spurs and Mavs. Regardless of what Pat Riley says this team has proven nothing to show they are a contender. A win here is vital against the Detroit Pistons. We do not expect that to happen because the Heat are a second half team and no reason to believe they will come out with the intensity necessary to win this game. They lose a close one. Predicted Score: Detroit wins 88-85

Nuggets @ Sonics: Don't think that Carmelo Anthony won't have a great game. He's having a better year than Allen and his team is actually in the playoffs, so how does Ray Allen become an All-Star over him? The same can be said for Camby of Yao. But Seattle should be able to keep pace. This game is going to be a shootout, expect to bet on the over. Predicted Score: Denver wins 110-106

Spurs @ Pacers: These two teams have been successful for the most part of the last 15 years. But it hasn't exactly led to good games. Like the Spurs/Pistons games, these ones are almost always blowouts, and considering all of Indiana's injuries, this one should be one-sided. This game should sail on the under. Predicted Score: San Antonio wins 89-74
