Naturopathic Medicine Schools

Author: Michael Bustamante

Naturopathic Medicine schools take a holistic approach to physical health. Naturopathic Medicine combines therapies with medicine to promote natural healing. The field involves herbology, homeopathy, Chinese medicine, hydrotherapy, naturopathic massage, pharmacology, and minor surgery.

Naturopathic Medicine is founded on the principle that the body is capable healing itself, and that physical and mental harmony, mental and physical balance, and the environment must be healthy for the good health of the entire organism. Naturopathic Medicine uses herbal supplements and remedies that enrich the immune system, and believes that the mind can enhance the immune system to affect health and well-being.

Naturopathic Medicine uses alternative therapies, which may include vitamin and mineral supplements, diet and exercise, detoxification, colonic irrigation, and a myriad of holistic approaches to generate natural healing.

Naturopathic Medicine is an art, a science, a philosophy, and a practice of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of illness. Naturopathic medical principles are basic to the objective of observations of health, of disease, and of healing. Naturopathic medical methods are consistent with these principles and are the basis of the viewpoint that each patient is an individual with individual needs. The naturopath's tools are diverse, traditional, experimental, scientific, and based on observation and experience.
